Ecogen Recycling

We’ve Moved!

The Ecogen team is pleased to announce that we have now moved to a much larger facility in Kings Worthy Business Park, Winchester. Having seen significant business expansion over the course of the last 3 years, we have invested in a larger site with greater recycling capacity, and new baling equipment to increase throughput.

Our new site has more than quadrupled in size, standing at 7 acres in comparison to the 1.6 acres of our Alresford location, allowing our team to process larger volumes of materials each day. With the help of an additional baler, Ecogen can now process up to 70 tonnes of materials per hour, with a site capacity of up to 10,000 tonnes per month in comparison to only 4,000 at our old facility.

Closer to the M3 and with additional space for a private lorry park, accessing the Ecogen depot in Kings Worthy is even easier for clients and deliveries. Our new 125-metre-long Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and machinery increases our recycling capabilities to accommodate our expansion, allowing our team to process more recycling from clients across the UK.

James Lewis, commercial director of Ecogen, is thrilled with the new premises, commenting:

“Kings Worthy Business Park has been in on the horizon for two years and we are delighted to finally be operational, despite COVID-19 and market pressures,” James said.

“Our aim was to upscale the operation in such a large way that we could handle thousands more tonnes per month, work with bigger household names, and never turn away work. It has already proved invaluable to us, with October 2020 being our best month both in terms of tonnage and turnover. In the past we have always been tenants, so it is great to finally call a site our own and make long term decisions on infrastructure and machinery. We are already the largest independent merchant in Hampshire, but we are really excited to see how far we can take this business over the next ten years.”
